Who has the Energy?

Gary did.

Gary grew up in California and had two childhood heroes. His mom Mary who encouraged him to love baking … and his dad Clifford who taught him to love the outdoors and follow his passions.

Now, Gary worked at a bike seat factory in Berkeley. He was living in a garage with his dog, his skis, his climbing gear and his bike. On weekends he’d go on long rides with a buddy. Well, one day, on a particularly long ride Gary need an energy boost but just couldn’t bear to take another bite of the energy bar he’d brought along … There must be a better way Gary thought … and so he went home to his mom’s kitchen and tried coming up with his own bar … it wasn’t easy … but Two years later Gary started selling his own creation, one that he actually liked to eat, at bike shops and outdoor stores all over the Bay Area. And sales took off almost immediately.

Today, over 25 years later, Gary’s bars are the best-selling energy bar brand in the US with sales of over 500 million a year. And their named after one of his childhood heroes… the one who taught him to follow his passions. His dad Clifford... CLIF BARS
