Kami did.

Kami was Kurdish immigrant who came to Canada with his wife, young son and just $20 in his pocket. They spoke very little English … never the less

they worked hard, took ESL courses and finally bought a Robin’s Donut franchise that they greatly improved and then sold for a large profit … all by meticulously understanding every bit of the operation, and making sure customers were extremely happy … and despite not ever having drunk coffee before arriving in Canada.

Well, with his profits, Kami had a vision for a new kind of coffee place that offered things that competitors didn’t like Wi-Fi and access to meeting rooms but it would be a place where people connected with each other and loved to hang out … he had location in downtown Vancouver … but what to call it?

Then one day, reading about his hero Muhammad Ali, the legendary boxer, Kami came across a photo of Ali connecting with his fans … and Kami had the name …

Today, in just 10 short years, the company Kami started has over 30 locations across Western Canada … and is named for what Muhammad Ali was doing in that photo.. waving to his fans … Kami’s business … Waves Coffee House
