Robert did.

Robert Cade was always curious … and that’s what led him to be a physician, university professor and an inventor.

One hot and humid day while teaching at the University of Florida an athletic coach stopped by to see if Robert could help figure out why his players couldn’t seem to urinate … well Robert being curious he got his team together and investigated. They figured out the problem… and came up with a solution … what the athletes’ ended up calling Cade’s Cola … it tasted awful but seemed to work.

First the rookies tried it and met with success … then varsity team tried it … the coach was so impressed he ordered up a whole batch of the concoction … and that’s when the university team became well known for outperforming competitors in the second half of every game. By the end of the year they’d won the Orange Bowl.

Well Robert knew what we wanted to do .. he offered the university the formula if they would just back his commercialization of Cade’s Cola. But despite all the success the answer was no. So Robert took his patent, raised his own capital and started to produce the cola. When the university realized its mistake a deal was struck to share a portion of the profits.

Today, Cade’s Cola is sold virtually everywhere … and in the process has generated a staggering $200 million in royalties for the University of Florida … but Robert knew Cade’s Cola wouldn’t be a catchy enough name so he named his drink after his favourite university football team … the University of Florida Gators … Gatorade!

Gatorade is a great idea … because quenching your curiosity can lead you to the score big!
