Harland did …

Harland was 65 and close to being broke … but he loved food. Harland had tried lots of things in his life. And, at one point, even owned a car garage in a small town that fed travellers as they came by. Everybody loved Harland’s food so he opened a big restaurant across from the garage. Even the governor stopped by to award Harland a honourary title for his contributions to food.

But, at 65, he sold his restaurant because a new highway bypassed the small town … and fewer people were coming by.

Now Harland had a kernal of an idea … he took $105 from his social security check … and hit the road. He’d stop at restaurants wherever he went … and show people how to cook food his way … and all he asked was that if they used his recipe they pay Harland a nickel every time they did. Well pretty soon, things started going really well … and Harland started selling franchises.

Today, the company Harland started at age 65 has over 15,000 locations in 105 countries around the world … and you still see his likeness every time you visit …Colonel Harland Sanders … who started Kentucky Fried Chicken.
