Ed did.
Ed was an avid cyclist living in Michigan. Looking out for other cyclists he formed the Good Roads organization to advocate for … you guessed it … Good Roads. He did such a good job that it led to changes in Michigan’s Constitution and Ed joining Wayne County Road Commission. And that’s where Ed would eventually make his marks.
One day Ed was riding along the street when he noticed a milk truck up ahead it was leaking milk as it trundled along … giving Ed a brilliant idea.
Now, with Ed responsible for the construction of a very important full mile of concrete road in Wayne County …. The first concrete road in the world, people listened to him and his idea. They tried it and it worked.
Before long, everyone was lining up to use Ed’s idea. Not just in Wayne County .. but all over Michigan .. then the country and eventually the world.
Today, the concept Edward Hines came up with based on spilt milk is considered one of the greatest transportation innovations ever … and one that everyone who drives uses everyday … the painted line down the middle of the road that separates opposing traffic.
The painted line is a great idea … because milking an idea for all its worth can drive amazing worldwide change.
