Phil grew up poor in Saskatchewan … by the age of 8 he made extra pocket money selling the furs of animals he trapped. After graduating from high school he moved to Winnipeg and tried job after job … until he became a door-to-door salesman … miracalusously he was really good at it … so much so he moved to Atlantic City and demoed products to small crowds … a few years later after honing his sales skills and back in Winnipeg … he had a great idea… instead of just selling one product to a few people at a time … why not use television? At the time no one else was doing it … so he invested some money and created a 5 min commercial for a new Teflon pan … it was a disaster … the orders were coming in .. .but the Teflon itself slid off the plan and he had to give people their money back .. but Phil could Tel … Television was where it was at … so he brushed himself off and looked for other products … soon the Veg-o-matic, the Pocket Fisherman, the Patty Stacker and Miracle Brush all became household names. The Brush alone sold 28 million units. But wait there’s more!

When a major source for new products dried up … Phil jumped into the record business … creating a simple country hits compilation album .. it sold out … so he did another one that sold out too … over time Phil’s company sold over 500 million albums including “Hooked On Classics” which sold 10 million alone

Today, the brand Phillip Kives created still resonates with many … named after him and the medium he used to sell his products … K for Kives. Tel for Television. K-Tel
