Al did …

Al was stunned. He had opened the newspaper that morning … and read his own obituary. Worse it was not at all flattering. The paper called him “a merchant of death” …. Which no one wants to be remembered as.

Al had grown up trying to help people. He liked to invent things and was good at it … he had over 350 patents to his name. The newspaper had called him the merchant of death because the one thing he was both rich and famous for was inventing dynamite.

Al was so stunned that morning he decided right there to devote himself and his fortune to changing the world for the better in a lasting and meaningful way … and that’s what he did.

Today Al’s legacy lives on with a celebration held every December. In fact, his name has become synonymous for doing something exceptional for the benefit of mankind. The Nobel Prize … named and funded by the Al … Alfred Nobel.

The Nobel Prize is a great idea because an explosive idea can help change the world .. for the better.
