Planting The Seed

Meryl did.

Meryl loved working outdoors. Growing up in Calgary, he spent his summers at the local gardening centre. After learning everything he could, he moved to Kelowna to open his own garden centre … but it was tough going … and when the City of Calgary tracked him down to offer him a job in the parks dept. ,he jumped at the chance to come home. A year later, Meryl got a call from the mom of one of his friends and then another mom and another mom … they had all seen a newspaper want ad for a gardener for a private estate … and all the moms thought Meryl would be perfect. So he spruced up his resume and applied and a couple weeks later he got a call he was hired … and he hadn’t even seen the property yet. The owners had a 20 year plan … Meryl did it in 12.

Now during that time .. Meryl had also started a small landscaping company on the side to help others. One of his customers suggested that if he ever wanted to start something new he would be there. Well it was time!

So the partners bought a 20 acre piece of land and started a full service business to share their love of gardening, landscaping & Christmas with others.

Today, the business Meryl and his partners started is thriving, attracting over 40,000 customers annually … and you pass it every time you head south on Macleod Trail when you head to Okotoks.. Spruce It Up Garden Centre.

Spruce It Up Garden Centre is a great idea … because planting and nourishing an idea can turn into something beautiful.
