Nothing to Lose

Stanley did.

Stanley had a marvellous mother… when he was young and came home from school with a little composition … his mother would always say she had “another Shakespeare”. As result Stanley end up thinking he could do just about anything.

But things were grim .. money was tight growing up so Stanley took on all sorts of odd jobs .. when his cousin’s husband Martin needed a gofer for his publishing company Stanley was there filling inkwells, getting coffee and proofreading copy … then one day Martin created a bit of a storm when he fired everyone except Stanley … Stanley was just 17 years old and now the editor.

From then on … Martin would come in and say write a publication about Westerns because Westerns were popular so Stanley did … or write a war story or a crime story so Stanley did … it was fun and exciting .. for a while.

Fast-forward 20 years and Stanley was ready to quit … he wanted to write his own stories … and then his wife gave him some fantastic advice .. just do it … the worst that can happen is that Martin fires you .. so that is what Stanley did.

The story was about four characters .. and unlike other mainstream hero at the time these ones had problems … readers ate it up … and Martin was happy … so Stanley wrote another story about another hero … that was a hit too and then he wrote another and another

Today, the Marvel characters co-created by Stan Lee after he almost quit his 20 year editing job are famous worldwide … Spider Man, The Hulk, X-men and many more but there was one that started it all … the Fantastic Four.

The Fantastic Four is a great idea .. because by drawing on your experience and taking action you can end up doing something marvellous!
