Frank did.
Frank was a machinist who, together with his brothers, never waffled on quality as they built a fresh food company in Northern California that specialized in turning farm fresh eggs into mayonnaise, breakfast batter, salad dressings and noodles all under a simple product name.
But Frank had a problem … you see delivering quality, fresh food products beyond a certain distance from their factory was just not possible … Frank figured maybe getting into the frozen food business might help reach more markets further away.
So, leveraging one of their popular, freshly made egg-based products Frank built an absolutely crazy contraption to cook them … he attached multiple irons to a merry go round engine and then had employees stand at strategic points and flip the product at the right time … the tasty frozen product was an immediate hit … and that’s when Kelloggs came calling and convinced Frank and his brothers to let go of the product and their simple product name.
Today, the product Frank cooked up using irons on a merry go round engine, and that Kellogg’s took on and cleverly marketed, dominates its frozen food category .. with sales of a billion dollars a year .. Eggos
