John did.

You could say that life was a Challenge for John … growing up in Toronto he liked to perform … a lot … and every time he had the chance … so rather than graduate from high school he went to work at an ad agency as a writer … it was fun and interesting … together with a colleague they entertained themselves and everyone in the ad office …. And managed to write some copy too.

One day John and his buddy were approached by the CBC … would they like to write sketches for a late night comedy show? Well pretty soon they were writing for a whole bunch of CBC shows … and having a great time.

And that’s exactly when John had a great idea for new show .. one that was different than anything else on television … where similar US shows steered away from controversy … John’s show marched right into the middle of it became front page news in the process.

Within months in Canada the show was a phenomenon .. and began attracting guests from across the country and around the world. Gordie Howe, Indira Gandhi, Malcolm X, Golda Meir, Jayne Mansfield, Boris Karloff and Ed Sullivan … they all came to Canada to be on the show John created.

Today, the long running show John Aylesworth created has been off the air for 20 years … but it last 38 years and most Canadians of a certain age will always remember it … Front Page Challenge …

Front Page Challenge is a great idea … because asking the right questions to answer a mystery can lead you to amazing places!
