Dan and Ed worked in film and tv industry … they loved all types of films … but especially liked documentaries about the paranormal … often finding them scarier than horror films … when they started thinking about doing their own Project … they weren’t sure Witch genre to start with … that’s when they had a great idea … maybe they could Blair the lines between the genres. So they wrote an outline and started casting. The only problem was they didn’t have much money.

They scraped together just $25,000 … to save money they hired actors who could improvise … and who could also double as camera people … it took 8 days to film and 8 months to edit.

When they finished they thought maybe a cable channel would buy it … so they took it the Sundance Film Festival … and in a stroke of marketing genius handed out flyers saying the events in the movie were real … a film distributor bought it on the spot and cleverly made it the first widely distributed film primarily promoted via the Internet.

Today, Dan & Ed’s Project is famous worldwide even if you’ve never seen it … it invented a whole new genre of films and inspired a raft of imitators … as their little $25,000 movie made over $250 million at the box office… becoming one of most profitable movies of all time … The Blair Witch Project
