Mac did …

Mac was building a career in real estate and construction … when he became frustrated. Not with his career … but with steak he was cooking on his barbeque.

Mac would buy his steaks at the local supermarkets … but was unhappy with their quality and also hated how impersonal these large stores were… Mac wanted quality steaks likes the ones that hotels and restaurants had and with service to match.

So leveraging his family’s experience, and recruiting his brother-in-law Mark, they opened what they considered a modern butcher shop in strip mall. It had plenty of parking, simple direct service and allowed people to get in and out quickly. They started with just 62 products. And it was a big hit.

Things worked out so well … that they expanded the product line to over 375 items. And they started franchising and franchising.

Today the company Mac and Mark started has over 450 locations across Canada and is still named after them … Mac & Mark or M&M Meat Shops.

M&M Meat Shops is a great idea because … cooking up a great idea can happen anywhere … even while barbequing a steak.
