Jeff did.

After studying computer science and electrical engineering at university Jeff ended up on Wall Street and where he rose quickly by applying what he knew to the understanding the stock market.

Jeff fully expected to spend his whole career in finance when he fell in love … with the Internet … which at the time was just becoming popular.

Jeff was amazed … and wondered how the Internet could be used to make businesses more efficient? So he looked at 20 different businesses in a logical, by the book approach… and one industry that could really use the Internet just floated to the top.

Jeff proposed a new Internet venture to his company .. but they didn’t think much of it and refused to back it.

So he promptly quit and moved with his wife to Seattle writing his business plan along the way. They opened shop in their own garage with Home Depot doors as tabletops. Within months they were selling $20,000 worth of books a week. Within a few years Jeff was Time Magazine Man of the Year.

Today books are just a small fraction of the $61 billion a year business Jeff Bezos created and that is named after the powerful river with seemingly endless potential … Amazon.
