Fifteen Minutes

Mimi and Walter did.

Mimi was from New York and Walter from Brazil … and together they wrote songs … and they were good at it. Lots of their songs were made famous by artists like Mariah Carey and Boys 2 Men.

One day during a hot summer the head of record label suggested they write some Christmas songs … now Mimi was excited about it become she loved Christmas … but Walter … he had his reservations … Christmas songs were what artists recorded when their careers were over … nevertheless they decided to give it a shot … and wrote an handful of songs … one in particular took just 15 minutes to write … but Walter worried it was too simple to be successful while Mimi thought it was heartfelt. T hen Mimi, since she was a pretty good singer, recorded the song and released it … it was a smash.

Today, over 25 years later that one song Mimi aka Mariah Carey and Walter Afanasieff wrote is universally popular. It powered one of the best selling albums of all time. Its the most popular Christmas song on Spotify … has almost a billion views on YouTube … and recently hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time ever .. 25 years after it was released. All I want for Christmas is You.
