Changing the status quo can make others green with envy!

Transcript

Gene did.

Gene was gobsmacked … as the Athletic Director at a small Division 2 College located in the US Northwest he was in charge of both the football team and the stadium they played in. After several years of use it was now time to replace the football field turf at the College Stadium … and the bill was going to be $600,000 for the new green playing surface … what made Gene blue was when the new field was installed he knew no one would know the difference.

And that’s when he had a great idea to make a simple yet fundamental and unique change to the field … he got the support of the college … and they made the change.

Well, at first everyone thought Gene and the college were crazy … but then something magical happened … players who initially laughed off the change now loved playing on the field. And, As the college stood out from everywhere else in the nation, the field helped attract better players and as result the football team move up to the prestigious Division 1. Oh and enrolment at college tripled too!

Today, the simple change Gene made is so distinctive that Boise State owns a trademark on it … a trademark that ensures that if any other field in the entire country wants to have a non-green field they have get permission from the licensing office at Boise State. Gene’s change? He made the field blue.

The Boise State Blue Field is a great idea … because changing the status quo can make others green with envy!
