Victor did.

Victor was facing yet another difficult challenge (translation he had to clean up another mess left by others). Victor worked at Proctor & Gamble … when you needed a new product created or fixed you went to Victor … he’d been with the company for 30 years and helped invent or dramatically improve products like Ivory Soap, Duncan Hines Cake Mix and Pringles.

Now, he was head of the Exploratory Products Division and just about ready to retire to spend time with his new grandkids. And that’s when the latest “difficult challenge” landed in his lap.

P&G had just bought the Charmin Paper company … and they desperately needed Victor to come up with new products to use up all that new paper capacity. If they couldn’t get things right P&G could be in trouble.

Well, Victor started coming up with ideas .. and tried and disposed of a whole bunch of them … then one night while playing with his grandkids … he had an inspiration. It was a throwaway idea but it used lots of shredded paper. So, he had his team develop some prototypes and they worked … and then P&G started selling the product … and they sold really, really well.

Today, almost 60 years later, the product Victor created is P&G’s single most successful brand and dominates a product category worth over $30 billion a year worldwide. Pampers.

Pampers are a great idea … because acting on inspiration can help you clean up!
