Paul lived in Connecticut with his family … and every Christmas he loved giving his friends and neighbours gifts like wine and other treats … well one Christmas when Paul was 56 years old … he decided to do something a little different … since he liked to make salads and his own dressing he decided that that Christmas he was going to give everyone a bottle of his salad dressing instead. And that was that … until two months later when those same friends and neighbours started asking for more bottles of that salad dressing … well Paul realised he might be on to something and wanted to act … so together with his friend and neighbour Aaron … they each put $20,000 in to start bottling and making it … well sales took off almost immediately and then they started adding other products too. Now Paul and Aaron were both very well off and didn’t need the money …so that’s when they had their great idea … give 100% of their profits to charity.

Today, almost 40 years later, the company Paul & Aaron started and which is still named after Paul, now gives over $25 million every year to charity … and after over almost 40 years the total amount is well over half a billion dollars … not bad for a guy who just wanted to act and share his own salad dressing one Christmas … Paul Newman
