Mike did …
Mike had a problem … at University he had started a business in his dorm room … and now it was growing so fast he had no more room.
Mike had always been an entrepreneur. As a kid he loved stamps and got a job washing dishes to pay for them. Then he sold newspapers and made $18,000 in just one year. By the time he was 15 he bought an Apple computer just to take it apart.
For University, his parents encouraged him to try medicine but Mike had other plans.
In his first year, Mike noticed everything on campus was expensive … books, computer, food … naturally students wanted to keep costs down … so Mike started buying parts wholesale, combining them in his room and then selling the finished products to other students who loved the low cost and great customer service.
Mike’s products were such a hit he had outgrew room his dorm room … so he dropped out of and started selling his products full-time.
Today, the company that started in a dorm room is known worldwide selling over $60 billion worth of computer products and services annually and is still named after its founder Michael Dell.
Dell is a great idea because nothing computes like spotting and servicing a market need.
