Joseph did.
Joseph was a young mechanic with a can do attitude. He worked on the family farm … and came up with crazy inventions and ideas that he bombarded his neighbours with. Eventually he opened his own successful shop.
Then one night tragedy struck … Joseph’s young son who was very ill, died when there was a terrible snowstorm and there was no way they could get him to a doctor or a hospital …
After grieving Joseph urgently sought to perfect one of his crazy inventions that could have helped his son. He got a patent and started building the multi-passenger vehicles for doctors, priests and even the government … but then multiple challenges led him to abandon the business … that is until 25 years after he first started … Joseph figured out a way to create a new smaller version … a version that anyone could drive.
Joseph intended to name his product for sled dogs it replaced … but an inadvertent mistake of just one letter in the marketing collateral led to it being called the Ski-Doo instead of the original name Ski-Dog
Today, the Ski-Doo is just one of the many products that the Joseph’s $20 billion a year company makes .. A company who growth was spurred on by terrible family tragedy and it is still named after its founder … Joseph Armand Bombardier
