De-Termination

Jim did.

Jim loved to write … and did so whenever he could. Having grown up in Ontario, Jim was driving trucks for a living in California when he had a life-changing event. At 23, he saw Star Wars for the first time … Jim instantly knew exactly what he wanted to do with the rest of his life … work in movies. Nothing could stop Jim. He was determined. Pretty soon he was working on low budget movie after low budget movie.

One night while in Rome and feeling ill, Jim woke up in sweat having an absolutely crazy dream. It was so crazy he wrote it down. When he was back home he turn that dream into a script.

Well various producers he pitched loved the script but no one loved Jim’s key demand … that he be allowed to direct the movie … since Jim had little directing experience. Eventually though, he found one studio that would … if he sold them all the rights to the script … for one dollar. For Jim, it was a bargain and the deal was done.

Jim considered stars like OJ Simpson and Sting for the key male lead before eventually settling on an equally inexperienced but charismatic actor.

Today, the idea based on a dream James Cameron had while ill, and that became his first big break … is a billion dollar, iconic movie and TV franchise that made a star out of its lead actor Arnold Schwartznegger … The Terminator.

The Terminator is a great idea … because when you dream big, act on it and stick to your guns, you can do almost anything.
