Steve did …

Steve was a college drop out … but a funny thing happened before Steve actually left college … he started to dropping IN to classes he liked. After noticing some posters around campus with attractive, stylish fonts and design he decided to drop in to a Calligraphy class.

Calligraphy is a type of visual art. It is often called the “art of fancy lettering”. Steve loved it. It was his favourite college class … even if he wasn’t a student any longer.

A while later Steve started working on a new product with a buddy … and insisted that the beautiful fonts and styles he’d seen in Calligraphy class be included in the new product.

Where the competitors used one boring font Steve’s new product had a dozen. As a result Steve’s product was noticeably different from everything else on the market. The product was an immediate hit and sold out quickly.

Today Steve’s company makes many products but remains well known for its innovative use of design and style to differentiate itself from everything else on the market.

Can you imagine? If Steve Jobs hadn’t dropped into calligraphy class way back when then today there might not be an Apple, an iPhone or a MacBook.

Apple is a Great Idea because inspiration can happen anywhere … even in college calligraphy classes.
