Bill did.

Bill’s family was so poor in Boston that he dropped out after 8th grade to get a job and help out financially … but Bill was smart .. at 17 he was an ice cream delivery boy. By 21 he was the company’s sales manager managing upwards of 100 delivery trucks a day … at 29 Bill was restless and wanted to do his own thing … so he cobbled together some money and built a catering truck that he drove to factories on the outskirts of Boston .. he sold sandwiches, coffee and snacks. It was a hit and before long he had 200 catering trucks running all over… and that’s when he had his great idea … 40% of his sales consisted of just two items … and Bill thought maybe a retail shop selling just those two items might work … so he opened one he called Open Kettle … then he opened another and another … and then started franchising them. But he thought maybe they needed a better name than Open Kettle … so in a brainstorming session with his executives fuelled by plenty of coffee and doughnuts they came up with one. And the rest is history.

Today, 70 years later, the food chain William Rosenberg initially called Open Kettle has over 12,000 locations around the world and sales of over $8 Billion a year under its brainstormed name … Dunkin Donuts.
