Lamar’s kids love playing with their Super Ball … you know one of those crazy rubber balls that seems to bounce higher and higher every time it hits the ground? Well watching them play inspired Lamar when he needed it …

You see Lamar was a wealthy businessman from Texas who had interests right across the country … he had wanted to join a very special and popular National business… but unfortunately the owners weren’t really interested in Lamar or in a whole bunch of other businessman like Lamar.

So Lamar being Lamar, instead of getting mad He decided to start his own competing American business … and recruited partners who had been rejected just like him.

Pretty soon the National business and the American business were going head-to-head … and it was tough.

Finally, the two businesses agreed to merge … and they decided to put on one major showcase event every year for their customers … now they just needed to call it something … but the official title was something only a committee could come up .. it was long and it was awful. Lamar kiddingly named it something else … based on the toy his kids liked to play with … but he thought it could be improved upon … well the name stuck with everyone … and by the third annual event Lamar’s simple name had become the official title

Today, 50 years later, the name that Lamar came up with watching his kids play with their Super Ball is now official name of the one of world’s biggest sporting events worldwide … The Super Bowl
