Henry made a very expensive product and so did his competitors … Henry was successful but wasn’t happy … he wanted everyone to use his product and the average person just couldn’t afford it …. Then one day, while touring slaughterhouses and grain facilities in the Midwest he had an idea … maybe he could build his products the same way those facilities processed their products … so he hired a consultant … and they got to work.

Three years later they opened Henry’s new production facility .. the first of its kind anywhere … and then three things happened … first Henry was able to drop the price of his product by two thirds … now everyone could afford to buy one … second he could now produce more products in a year than the rest of his competitors in the entire world combined … third he was able to pay his workers really well .. so much so that they too could buy the products they were making.

Today, over 100 years later, that initial production facility, inspired by slaughterhouses and grain facilities, that Henry Ford built to make cars in Highland Park Michigan is no more .. but it literally changed manufacturing and the world .. the automotive production assembly line.
