Basement Business

Corinne did.

Corinne had a problem … her daughter Lori had just joined her school’s swim team half way through the year … and Lori needed a swimsuit … but the winters are cold in Calgary, Alberta so its not typically the best time to look for a swimsuit … and Corinne just couldn’t find one that would fit her daughter and matched the rest of the team .. that got Corinne thinking … maybe other people were having the same problem too … so Corinne decided to take some action and started a mail order business … in her basement … to sell swimsuits to other families … well sales took off … and Lori eventually joined the now family business … after 12 years of running the mail order business they opened their first retail store … and then another and then another.

Today, almost 50 years later, that little mail order business Corinne started in the basement of her home in Calgary because she couldn’t find the right swimsuit for her daughter has sold millions of swimsuits at its 26 locations across Canada plus online…and Lori, who was the first customer for her mom’s business, now runs it. A little business named for the kind of product they sell and for Corinne, using the first two letters of her name … C O … SwimCo
